Cold Sore (Fever Blister or Herpes Simplex):
Herpes simplex is a virus infection. It occurs occasionally in some people and recurs again and again in more susceptible people. It produces what is commonly know as a "fever blister."We believe that this virus is always present in the skin and is just waiting for an opportunity to become active. It is likely to become active under the following circumstances: overexposure to sunlight, colds, and other upper respiratory infections; fever from any source; physical or emotional stress; reactions to drugs or foods; and injuries (such as stretching of the skin around the mouth during dental procedures). Cold Sores are contagious so never touch a cold sore always use a Q-Tip or use gloves when you apply medicines.
