Re-Plantation of Teeth (Knocked Out Tooth):
Sometimes teeth are knocked out of their bony sockets completely. This happens often in your children or teenagers. Young front teeth with short slender roots are most likely to be knocked out completely (avulsed). An avulsed tooth is a tooth that has been completely separated from the gum and bone with no fractures.
Recent dental research and clinical experience have provided information which allows us to save the avulsed tooth. If you or your child have an accident in which a tooth is avulsed, try to find the tooth, place it in milk if no milk available put in water. Get to your dentist as soon as possible. the length of the time the tooth is out of the mouth is most important. The longer the tooth stays out of the mouth, the less chance we have of saving the tooth.
